Fashion
Madewell has returned with part 2 of their Madewell x Alexa Chung collab. I’ve seen a lot of the chatter around Madewell (this too) recently and a hot take that I really appreciated and enjoyed digging into the opportunities, written by
.I shared in a post earlier this week, but keeping it organized here too: Lululemon x Disney dropped a collab on November 12th.
Another repeat mention here: Card Games x Knits x Puppies - all reasons to check out the Reformation x Shrimps collection for the holidays. This has already been a top link for readers this week!
New Launches
Fashion Launches
Delphine, a new dress focused (and higher price point) label is being launched by Tanya Taylor. Rather than expanding the brand to a higher price point and dress-ier SKUs, Taylor decided to launch a new brand that is fresh with learnings from her 11 year old Tanya Taylor label.
Naghedi (the summer ready woven tote bags brand) is launching 3 styles of sandals. I think this is a smart expansion for the line. The shoes look good, it is an edited assortment and priced $270-$310 (in line with the handbag pricing.) Worth mentioning here, I’m still very into this airport look from Jennifer Lawerence where she is toting a Naghedi bag. This one. But I love this color way too.)
Gianvito Rossi Exclusives have landed at MyTheresa. Velvet treasures that look like they were delicately tied with a bow.
A Jamie Haller boat shoe! What?? (If not on the site yet check out the Instagram) I’m still considering the Chukkas in nero personally. Anyone have these and can report back?
Cesta Collective launched a suede collection. I’m loving the deep shades, the mixture of textures with the organic vegetable-dyed sisal and that Cesta Collective expanded with a more winter-y mix.
Away launched a cosmic collection! Very space inspired. Part of this collection they also have a new Train Case which is giving me Caboodles energy. For Gift Giving this year there are also so many new travel accessories from the brand including Passport Wallets, Jewelry Organizers and a zip around wallet that reminds me of my favorite Comme des Garcon wallet.
New Finds I’m obsessed with
Gift Ideas: For a loved one who loves Jonathan Anderson and Loewe, so many fun collectors items with the new Suna Fujita collab:
perhaps the Suna Fujita Hamster canvas pouch for under $400.
is the shearling Hamster shoulder bag the new pigeon clutch? or with resort travel in mind, have a whale of a time with this crossbody.
Bag Charms a plenty from a mushroom, if the whale crossbody handbag is too much go for the smaller bag charm and a cute shearling bunny.
You can see more about the collection on the Loewe site and illustrations from the ceramist and husband and wife team Shohei Fujita and Chisato Yamano.
This skirt is screaming to be worn to a holiday party.
With shoes like these Loewe silver, The Row Frances and these JW Anderson shearling suede mules I realize we just want to live in bedroom slippers. I’m here for it.
Wrap Stars
Scarves, from luxury to opening price point, have long been a winter trend and super gift-able. I’ve noticed a few trends, and of course, as a former Cold Weather Buyer I’m ready to spiral 🌀 on the topic.
Retail Diary Scarf Insights
Why scarves work for a holiday gift:
It is likely an item that you need fresh this time of year. Whatever one you owned LY is potentially lost or looking a little worn.
What a great way to accessorize your coat!
Easy to gift. Don’t need to worry about size and they come in so many patterns, colors, materials etc.
The Burberry Holiday Scarf program was always major (major!!!) and it was interesting to track the cost increases here. Some years would be huge increases and (at the time) the position the brand had you might try and push back but there was very little that would change. Very rarely would the customer make any changes to spending. I’m not sure if this is the case now. There is likely still a traditional Burberry customer but the brand doesn’t have the hold that it once did.
Which leads me to this spiral and what made me think of looking deeper at scarf trends. This Acne Studios scarf. The side fringe Immediately had me thinking of the Burberry Happy Scarf. Back when the Burberry Happy Scarf was $250-$350 at retail it would be massed out as a key item boxed gift at Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Saks, Neiman Marcus etc. Ready to gift. No wrapping needed. Note that the Acne Studios version is now priced at the magic price point of $260.
I shared some notes on the Acne Studios Vally Scarf at the beginning of the year here.
And it wasn’t just the high-end. While I was searching for images of the 1996 Gap Holiday Crazy Stripe Scarf I found
writing for Vogue in 2022 about the 2000 Chunky Holiday Stripe Sweater from the Gap. It was a thing.Trend wise, I also think the Blanket Stitch is the detail that will be everywhere this holiday for cold weather accessories. See here (Toteme), J.Crew has a version and the Alex Mill one comes with a cardigan (or rather a cardigan with a scarf.)
And the Retail Diary Edit:
Of course, as noted above, the Acne Studios side fringe looks like a fun update to the Vally Scarf. I’m waiting to spot a side fringe plaid from Acne Studios. You can get a skinny for under $200 (or for $240 the skinny plus a monogram.)
The Loewe x Suna Fujita collab has so many special pieces. This version is $550 and would make a special gift and look beautiful with a light camel coat.
Not part of the collab, but I do love this special Loewe scarf and the abstract pattern on the end. And I love love love this wool and cashmere two tone Loewe scarf in bright red and pink. Stash away and save as a Valentine’s Day Gift if you like to plan ahead.
Chan Luu is a favorite - A lot of scarf, super lightweight and in a ton of colors and patterns but check out the leopard print.
For the teens, Ugg did a fuzzy scarf with a blanket stitch (I’d keep this for the colder temps.)
Acne style, Aqua price point (Aqua is Bloomingdale’s Private Label brand.) Solid colorblock too.
Not convinced on blanket stitch? I’m telling you, it is everywhere!
Bloomingdale’s Cashmere Angelina (named after the Hot Chocolate at Angelina in Paris. It’s that yummy.)
White & Warren Cashmere Blanket Wrap has been a best seller many years running (best travel item!)
And don’t forget the Triangle Scarf trend here.

New Store Openings & Pop-Ups
Congrats to Freda Salvador - new store opened at 83 Mercer in Soho.
Metier Trunk Show 11/15 & 11/16 at Hero Shop at Marin Country Mart. I’m planning to stop by.
Wilkes Bashford, the Palo Alto area multi-brand specialty store, just moved into their new 25,000 square foot store in the Stanford Shopping Center. The previous location was (only) 9,000 square feet. The Mitchells stores acquired Wilkes Bashford in 2009.
I believe the saying is “I did not have this on my bingo card” but I love that Rockefeller Plaza has become such a shopping destination. Maybe it is the Jenna Lyons impact (she consults for the shopping destination.) Alex Mill opened shop there this week at 1 Rockefeller Plaza.
All about Louis Vuitton’s temporary space in NYC.
The Business Section
Vogue x Marc Jacobs
A Vogue cover hasn’t gotten this much applause in awhile. From everyone. A true collector’s item. I would love to see American Vogue do this every December as a gift.
I loved this 15 minute video on the making of the issue featuring Marc Jacobs with some Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington cameos as well.
