Trending now….. 🎯
I love watching trends swing (even if you can find me wearing all black every day) and following how strong the latest trend, Mob Wife Aesthetic is, we’ve gone from Clean Girl to 70’s mobster wife (clip via Data but make it Fashion instagram).
- wrote a great piece on Mob Wife Aesthetic for her newsletter Slouching Towards Bethnal Green
Jennifer Lawrence’s The Row looks nailed casual style this Fall. Now her post Golden Globes look nails the Mob Wife Aesthetic.
Similar, Rachel Tashjian’s Washington Post article on 1950s and 1960s Ladies Who Lunch aesthetic feels like a softer version of the Mob Wife Aesthetic.
From Tashjian’s piece on 1/17/24 to Dior’s Couture Runway show, WWD writes on 1/22/24 talking of the FX series “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” that will drive many fashion trends this year. Next month “The New Look,” the 10-part series from Apple TV+, will also be driving this aesthetic. WWD is using the term “Midcentury Couture.”
WWD takes this even deeper and shares how Mob Wife Aesthetic highlights the current consumer behavior. We can see this from going from one extreme (clean, or girlhood) and swinging to the next trend (faux fur, 1970s vintage, big and bold jewelry.) The 90s aesthetic is still at play here. As my friend pointed out, we are also celebrating 25 years of the Sopranos which was at its height in the 90s.
Palm Beach is having a moment too - The Class of Palm Beach is a social media account that follows what the locals are wearing (via NYTimes) following from last year’s hit of the Ladies of Madison Avenue. In addition to shoppers and locals in PB you will also notice designers like Nili Lotan and I spied a Peloton Instructor who mentioned she was with her bestie.

What I’m watching…..📺
Chanel preparing us for their Couture show with this beautiful brief movie.
What I’m listening to…..🎧
Really enjoyed this interview on the Glossy Podcast as Brian Murphy (Loeffler Randall) did not sound like a cookie cutter CEO. Managing a really cool growing brand, Murphy is super thoughtful and curious.
What I’m reading…..📚
I started Demon Copperhead and while it is intense it is also an incredible book. Will take me a bit to finish but I am enjoying it.
If you are looking for more Barbie or Margot Robbie content, the stylist Andrew Mukamal is publishing a book with Rizzoli Books on all of Robbie’s iconic looks, including rare materials from Mattel’s archives.
What’s Next 🗓️
Couture shows in Paris - I love this clip WWD captured of Natalie Portman running into Rihanna and having a major celeb crush moment. They both loved the moment.
Later this week we will have another This Will Be Quick or potentially a longer Deep Dive if there is a lot coming out of Paris Couture week.
