I’m an FT reader and have to admit when I saw the Kim K piece being trailed I thought for god’s sake, noooo, is there nowhere these people don’t infiltrate? But when I read the article, which was completely focused on the business of Skims, it was fascinating. She absolutely deserves now to be known as a businesswoman, and she knows what she’s good at and what she’s not.

My most viewed shows were Bally and Loewe. The last couple of seasons I loved Carven and Miu Miu but was really underwhelmed by both this season. Keen to hear what everyone else’s were!

Also loved the leather jackets chat. About six months ago I found an amazing oversized 80s style white leather jacket in a vintage store for £35, which I tried on impulse because it made me think of Isabel Marant (not a high fashion reference, but closer to how people actually dress day to day where I live in Paris). So I’m delighted to see it all over the runways now. It looks a lot like the big white Chloé one. Although I have to say, other than that, I’m really not a Chloé girl. It’s probably because I’m in my forties and did the Sienna Miller boho look in my twenties, but that whole look is tired to me and not at all exciting.

Bally felt so inspirational in an accessible way.

The Skims business story is such a great business case study too. I’m a fan of the business of skims and good American which really keeps coming back to Emma and Jens grede. I love Isabel Marant and her jackets shapes are so solid. Yes to how women want to dress.

I really feel that Isabel Marant doesn’t get enough credit for her influence on how women actually dress (most certainly in Paris but I would wager further afield too). She definitely is an anomaly when it comes to PFW because the looks never change much and it’s very understandable why there is never really any discussion of her show, but in terms of what women want to wear she’s been nailing it and having her idea of that trickle down for decades.

I think the buyers (store merchants) talk about Isabel Marat a lot more than the coverage she gets.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all, makes perfect sense.

I was in the Bloomingdale’s Skims shop in NYC and it was by far the busiest part of the store. Also bought my first Skins set: the ribbed boxer brier and matching Henley. Weirdly fits my tomboy, preppy aesthetic even though that’s not what I think when I think of Kim K.!

Me too! I’m worried it will never see the light of day because Bally just got bought!!

Most interesting shows were:

Bottega: because I would wear anything Matthieu Blazy designs at this point.

Saint Laurent: because I like the 1950’s and YSL’s interpretation of chinoiserie

Miu Miu: just a pleasure to see every time

Agree! I loved the mix at saint laurent too and would love to hear more theories and inspiration behind the design. The menswear inspired styles I kept seeing Yves as inspo.

I’m also in CA (Central Valley) and I genuinely get sad that we completely miss jacket season here and skip from summer heat straight to winter every year, because I. love. Jackets!! 🥲

I always like to see the Chanel shows.

Moda had some great style notes on a lot of the shoes which was fun to read.

For me I really liked the ballet inspired looks at Ferragamo show and could easily see how it will trickle down and influence athleisure styles in the next year.

Yes. Loving balletcore and the sporty looks at many of the shoes. It makes the clothing so much more wearable.

I have been eyeing this wrap coat from Cos and this may have been the tipping point to buy it! https://www.cos.com/en_usd/women/womenswear/coats-and-jackets/product.fringed-double-faced-wool-coat-grey.1246006001.html

My bathrobe coat. I also use it as a bathrobe to get more wear. And a security blanket! And you make me want to think about how we in hot climes incorporate leather too!
