Fall Trend - Miu Miu Moment
I can’t even count the number of times I spotted content or articles around Miu Miu this week. And when it wasn’t being mentioned explicitly I could still see the inspiration threading back to Miu Miu.
For Vogue Business, Laure Guilbault wrote “Miu Miu’s Secret Sauce” with great insights and many data pulls on their growth and the luxury upswing they are seeing vs other brands challenges in the luxury space.
tl;dr: Miu Miu is experiencing exceptional growth in a challenging luxury market, driven by its unique aesthetic, bold marketing, and celebrity strategy. The brand is successfully appealing to a wide age range of customers and is positioning itself for further expansion, particularly in the US market.
More insights:
Miu Miu's sales grew 93% year-on-year in the first half of 2023, outperforming the luxury industry during a downturn.
The brand's success is attributed to its quirky aesthetic, playful styling, and collaborations with influential celebrities and stylists like Lotta Volkova.
Miu Miu has sparked trends like the briefs as pants look and consistently ranks as one of the hottest brands on fashion search engine Lyst.
The brand appeals to a diverse customer base, from teenagers to mature shoppers, with products ranging from affordable logo items to high-end fashion pieces.
Miu Miu is strategically expanding, especially in the US market, with plans to increase global floor space by 10% in 2025 while carefully managing product scarcity and demand.
Jessica Testa's NYTimes article "The Most Wanted 'Girl' in Fashion" (gift link to read behind paywall) explores the Miu Miu brand's cultural relevance and its multifaceted "girl" image. Testa also discussed these trends on the Line Sheet's Fashion People podcast episode "Miu Miu Girls and Melinda Gates' Glow-Up." A key insight: Miu Miu's iconic khaki micro miniskirt has maintained a top 5 position on Lyst since mid-2022, showcasing the brand's enduring influence in fashion trends.
I also love the account on Instagram .@whatpeoplearewearing and this recent interview also showcases the “Miu Miu girl” Trend for Fall.
New Collabs
Adorable collab (fantastic kids pjs) Baggu x Hanna Anderson. The Strawberry print is so cute and I love that they created a Mommy & Me bundle to make shopping for the family and matching easy.
Nike x Swarovski on $1000 crystal Air Jordans. My friend’s daughter spent HOURS (!!) doing this to her own Air Jordans after ordering a rhinestone kit. (PS I’m also obsessed with Lauren Sherman’s Line Sheet reporting on Nike or listen here.)
Latest Ganni x New Balance collab is coming soon.
Coqui Coqui, the niche fragrance and lifestyle brand, has launched a collaboration with H&M Home. This partnership was inspired by H&M Home's head of design Evelina Kravaev-Söderberg's experience at Coqui Coqui's properties, bringing the brand's distinctive aesthetic to a wider audience.
New Launches
Fashion Launches
- ’s new denim line launched. This is the designer’s first line of RTW. Halie LeSavage wrote about the launch for Marie Claire. The pieces look easy and comfortable and if you are putting your outfit together from your loafers up, these are the looks you’d want to grab.
Frame launched their newest silhouette, Le Sleek Straight. They sent me a pair to try and I love them. I compared them to another favorite fit from the brand, Le High Straight. The difference between the two is that Le Sleek Straight has a slightly wider or looser leg. It feels fresher and is more relaxed where Le High Straight is more tailored. Both great fits. (Use code SARAH15 for 15% off non-sale + non-exclusions at Frame.)
Calpak’s has launched a new Fitness Collection. Timing feels good as many have returned to office, that might mean commuting to the gym as part of this routine.
Jewelry Launches
Dorsey launched a pre-fall collection with some fantastic layering pieces. Many of these have a daintier touch, perfect for…layering! Here is how I would wear some of the new pieces:
One of the trends for Fall is ladylike looks (kitten heels, waist definition, structured handbags) and these Asscher Cut light yellow sapphire earrings would pair great with these looks.
The Asscher Cut earrings now come in petite too if you like a smaller look (or will stack other earrings with them.)
I’ve mentioned that I like an asymmetrical earring stack and mix them up. So I love that you can purchase these earrings as a single or a pair. This huggie and this huggie would be fun to play around with.
I also love to layer and mix up my necklaces (are we sensing a trend here from me…) and this dainty necklace is asymmetrical (yes, I have a type) and would be great on its own or paired with one of the Riviére or Strand necklaces.
Ring Concierge launched a new two stack wave ring. You can purchase individually too but when you stack together you are offered a $100 discount. Wear side-by-side, stacked or just one. I love that one is half in diamond pavé and the other is solid. (Looks like limited quantities available at the moment FYI.)
Beauty Launches
I’ve noticed that Merit was teasing a bit more about skincare and I’m so excited that they announced this week that they have a new Priming Moisturizer launching 8/22. After Glow Serum (a product I love and use daily) having this Priming Moisturizer to further extend into skincare feels like the right next step to dive deeper into skincare. Priming Moisturizer is a featherlight cream that preps, blurs, and hydrates in one go. The quick-absorbing formula features a powerhouse blend of peptides and spermidine, leaving your skin plump and ready for flawless makeup application. I’m excited to try it - and all orders from Merit.com will ship with a sample. I’m interested to see if they add a new category to the navigation or if this lives with Complexion. They also have so much opportunity to expand further into skincare so let’s see what’s next.
RŌZ launched a new mask - the Foundation Mask*. It is a silicone-free hair treatment that deeply hydrates and repairs. Clinically proven to reduce breakage by 31% after one use, it strengthens hair and improves elasticity, creating a healthy base for styling. Think of this as an intense conditioner. As someone with dry and frizzy hair, I am excited to try. The tiniest details are also pretty impressive - it ships with a key to help turn the tube and get every last drop out. (Use code SarahS15 for 15% off at Rozhair.com)
Tower28 just launched a new talc-free setting powder. GetSet Powder is safe for sensitive skin and creates a smooth finish that “instantly blurs.” On LinkedIn founder Amy Liu called this their biggest launch of the year.
wrote about the return of Pressed Powder for Allure. (I wrote about the trend of Suede earlier this week and mentioned that I thought in Beauty we would see opportunities around suede finishes. I feel like this totally fits into that trend.)Summer Friday’s has two new products coming to the Jet Lag collection later this month. Hydration Essentials is what they are being marketed as. Jet Lag™ Skin Soothing Hydration Mist and Jet Lag™ Deep Hydration Serum.
They have a separate PDP1 for the launch I’d love to see some Jet Lag bundles and pairings as well as a chart that explains which products you should use when. Similarities and differences and which ones work well together.
I also noticed that the Jet Lag Deep Hydration Serum is a rebrand “Formerly known as Dream Oasis Deep Hydration Serum, Jet Lag™ Deep Hydration Serum is the same great formula with a new name and look.” So SF is looking to build out the Jet Lag assortment and the best/easiest way to do this was move over this product. It also likely fits better here than marketing a different Dream Oasis collection.
Fashion & Beauty Finds
Fashion Finds
I am into the V vamp, especially in flats. (I’m also a huge Alexa Chung fashion fan - here is her Ferragamo ad post.) More V vamps to love:
Ferragamo pink velvet, denim AND raffia (two material trends in shoes), jeweled and traditional leather.
Le Monde Beryl is all over this silhouette (these mary janes, and silver too)
Shiny patent in a pointy toe flat from Toteme or a suede wedge heel.
Select colors on sale at Mansur Gavriel
Love the Toteme T-lock clutch in the khaki green cloth. I’ve been using this handbag in black non-stop and it is the best. So versatile and easy to wear.
The Canadian Women’s Beach Volleyball Players won the Silver Medal at the Olympics wearing Left on Friday - my favorite swimsuit brand! While I might not win any Olympic Medals, I’ve been wearing these workout leggings* and this crop top/sports bra* from LoF and I love it! The same incredible material as the bathing suits and they wear so well. I’m such a fan of this brand.
Beauty Finds
Blush is back - I’ve actually been thinking that instead of the Lipstick Index we might have the Blush Index. I’m also curious if the number of blushes that the average person has owned has increased. I feel like for me it has substantially. Favorite blushes at the moment:
Rhode (and I notice I even do a tiny bit on the bridge of my nose with this one)
Flush Balm by Merit - I own 2 of these and the best to quickly swipe on a bit of color (I use on my lips too.)
Westman Atelier - another one I have 2 shades of plus a contour stick in biscuit
Rare - I use the tiniest bit of this
Jones Road Beauty - I bought the mini miracle balms and they are fun to travel and play with
PSA
Start your fall shopping with a belt - Déhanche belts are buy 2 or more get 30% off.

Vitamin C Serum - I am trying this one* now
I always have plenty of these acne patches on hand for an emergency
New Store Openings & Pop-Ups
Rothy’s is popping-up at Liberty London in the UK as part of their International Expansion. The brand has 23 US stores and started shipping to 20 countries this year, but Liberty is their first physical location overseas. I also noticed that Rothy’s is opening up in Walnut Creek, CA.
Glossier is opening in Dallas, TX..
After having successful pop-ups, Frankies Bikinis is opening a Malibu outpost, which is where the Founder lives. The 900 square foot boutique is in a recently finished Cross Creek Ranch.
Madison Avenue’s next chapter is looking good. I’m excited for the new Toteme store after seeing the Melrose location and Khaite will be great on Madison Avenue too.
Banana Republic opened a renovated lifestyle store at the Westfield Century City.
